The Clothesline
A clothesline is a great "GREEN" resource for drying your laundry at home. First of all, it saves energy, and lots of it!
Just by using your clothesline as a supplement to your normal clothes drying you could see a huge impact in your monthly electric bills.
Clotheslines are not as popular today as they were just a few years ago.
However, a clothesline will work just as good today as it ever did and this may come as a suprise, but lots of people prefer the clothesline to an electric drier.
Some of you may not be familar with a clothesline so lets find out exactly what a "clothesline" is. Well, there are several types of clotheslines out there and we will show you a few. Basically, a clothesline in something you can hang your wet clothes on to dry them. It can be inside or outside. Most clotheslines are outside. Premade clotheslines are available here on our website along with simple hardware for making your own. Just a wire streched between a couple of trees makes a good clothesline. Your clothes will be clean, fresh and dry.
Here is a retractable clothesline. Simply mount this in a spot where you can pull out the line and hook to something and you have a clothesline. When your done, it retracts back into the reel and its out of the way. They come in several lengthes so pick the one thats right for you. The longer your clothesline is the more clothes can be dried on it at one time. Clothespins are a must have item when using a clotheline. They keep the clothes and all your laundry from blowing off the line when the wind blows. Depanding on how you hang your clothes on the line, you can get them to dry faster by not folding them into over the line. You will need clothespins to do this. Want to try making your own clothesline at home? Its not hard. Just get out there and build it. You will need a few items to make it right. Here is some Clothesline Cable. Strong cable is important on your clothesline because you don't want it to droop in the middle while your using it. Maybe you will want to hang something heavy on it like a a quilt or comforter. So a good strong clothesline cable is a must.
Clothesline Poles for building your own clothesline outside. Poles shaped like a T are usually used and can have 2 or three cables on them each. People have made clothesline poles out of wood but they generally won't last as long as the metal poles designed for use as a clothesline. Whatever you use make sure it is sturdy enough to hold lots of wet clothes. Remember, wet clothes weigh much more than dry clothes
so your clothesline needs to be strong.
